I’m honored and excited to be a new part of Dub Selekta, however, many of you don’t know me yet. It’s only logical that you get on my level, and here are some sexy vibes that have kept me level during mellow bus rides and chill sessions for the last month or so:
Up first is Even Though, an epic collaboration between Floridan downtempo genie XXYYXX and Californian ambient producer Giraffage. Featured on the tastemaking Kitsuné America compilation last year, a slow, tantalizing build bursts forth into a brassy and ethereal bassline you will want to play again and again.
Warm and funky, this official remix of Djemba Djemba – I Just Go was done by another Californian, Falcons. Keeping it simple and sexy, Falcons adds more oomph to the 808 bass from the original, trapping it out, and subtly transforming the original into a floor shaking style, garnering support from Ryan Hemsworth and Cyril Hahn. This one has a free download too!

Lastly, this self-titled and debut EP release from Madeaux is a mature blend of downtempo bass, piano-centered soul, and synth-pop. Tasteful movie samples are interspersed with nostalgic soundscapes, creating a composition that probably deserves it’s own individual writeup. Honestly, this post should almost have instructions to roll a joint to the first two tracks, then light up to this EP. It’s really that chill.
Keep an eye on these talents in 2013, they are guaranteed to keep you swaying and relaxed! Keep it real, until next time!
